Find out more about IP blocking, what it really means and how and when it’s best to utilize it.
Occasionally you may need to block particular third parties from accessing your sites. There are a number of automatic bots which crawl the Internet, for instance, and generate fake visits and online traffic. There are also spammers that leave links to suspicious websites as comments to site articles. Such things may greatly undermine your projects, as nobody likes to visit an Internet site with many hundreds of fake comments, furthermore the increased website traffic from both spammers and bots could generate high load on the server on which your site is hosted, that can result in the site not functioning properly. Among the most effective solutions in such a case is to block the IPs that create the fake traffic, as a way to be sure that the visits to your website are authentic.
IP Blocking in Shared Website Hosting
If you have a shared website hosting
account with our company and you want to block one or a number of IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, that is included in our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. By using a pretty simple interface, you can prevent any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it takes to complete this is to log inside to your Control Panel, to visit the IP Blocking section, to choose a certain domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to type in the IP address. You will not need to do anything difficult if you would like to block a whole network - you'll just need to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the entire range from 22.214.171.124 to 126.96.36.199. All blocked IPs will be listed within the same exact section, so you'll be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with only a click.
