An auto-responder email is an e-mail that's sent back immediately to everyone who sends a message to a mailbox with this feature activated. The senders will receive the automatic reply when their e-mails are received and you'll not need to do anything by hand. A few instances of using auto-responder messages are sending a validation that a payment has been received and the order is now being processed or that a person is on holiday and will not be available for a particular time frame. In the first situation the function can be activated for a long time, whilst in the second one it's temporary. Even if you work with an email limited to private communication, you can use an auto-responder to let the sender know that the e-mail is received successfully.
